About WVT
vlaguk WVT is an NGO for (social) welfare work with the aim to prevent social exclusion for various age groups and to stimulate and organize activities focussing on the welfare of the local community. WVT provides educational, recreational, cultural and sportive activities in addition to tutoring services and prevention activities for various age groups.

Examples of activities organised by WVT are:

  • playgroup activities for toddlers
  • creative afternoons for children
  • courses drawing and painting for children
  • cultural events (dance, theatre/drama)
  • summer camps for children
  • sports activities for children and youth in the neighbourhood (sportbus)
  • disco for youth
  • club activities for youth
  • youth initiative groups / youth participation
  • youth information
  • international youth exchange
  • European Voluntary Service
  • recreation tennis and training (two tenniscourts)
  • self defense (judo, jiu-jitsu, karate)
  • meals for the elderly
  • courses basic / Oriental / Indonesian cooking
  • language training (Dutch, French, Spanish, Greek, English)
  • computer training (Windows, Word, Excel, internet & email)
  • dance activities (line dance, jazz dance, gypsy dance)
  • bodyshape and gymnastics
  • art exhibitions
  • workshops interior design, grim and mosaic
  • advise sessions on taxes, law related issues, (un)employment and notary
  • political discussions
  • mediation between residents, housing cooperations and municipality
  • etc!

WVT has app. 4200 members and welcomes ca. 1500 visitors every week.

To enable all these activities, WVT works with app. 200 local volunteers, 22 free-lance teachers, 2 leaders for toddlers groups, 1 caretaker and 2 assistants for maintenance and cleaning, 1 activity leader, 1 sports leader, 1 social-cultural worker and 1 person for management and coordination.

WVT is situated in the city of Bilthoven (De Bilt). Bilthoven offers a lot of recreational opportunities as it is located next to the forest. The nearest big city is Utrecht (20 mins. by bike or bus) where you find lots of pubs, theatres, cinemas, musea, shops, clubs etc. From Utrecht you can travel to Amsterdam by train in under half an hour.
