EVS, Europees vrijwilligerswerk

I arrived to the Netherlands around 23.00 on April 3rd, I spent my time as a rest in my first night and second day adventure was start. I came to W.V.T and firstly met with many people and then started work with kids until the 12.00 o clock. After that I met with my landlady, and I saw my room. There is a little kitchen inside the room on the roof. It is fine, you are beginning to realize something: every home has different rule and sometimes this rules may be different from yours. I learned it! It was another experience too (!) I have been in Utrecht with my manager after the work on Thursday. It is pretty amazing city.

I had been in Amsterdam around five years ago but I love more Utrecht than Amsterdam. Architecture, canals, restaurants and many cafes. In addition, the city has the Utrecht University, one of the largest Universities of Netherland. So you can see many young people everywhere. One day later, I worked with children. Main teacher of class, she is so friendly . We are talking English, I don’t know Dutch and unfortunately, I missed the courses in Utrecht University because it was start on February but my manager gives me Dutch lesson once a week in the building. I want to say thanks to him for it. End of the 3 lesson, I started understand colours, numbers, time and basic some sentences. Some days children helps me for my pronounce too  They are so cute. I really like work with children. Of course main teachers and other volunteer is big role for that. They are always friendly and help me. Two day later after work, my manager showed me IJsselstein. I’m coming from Istanbul. It is a big city and around 16 million people living there so IJsselstein and Bilthoven are pretty little for me but they are so nice. In my first weekend, I saw IJsselstein from the balcony of the windmill under the sunshine. What a beautiful view and then my manager and I went to Delft. I don’t know what is the correct word to explain my feelings about Delft but I can just say, It is amazing and my advice if people come to the Netherlands, they should allow the time and visit Delft!!! Especially when I learned that Johannes Vermeer lived in Delft, it affected me much more I was so lucky because there was a good weather on Sunday too ( because after arrived to Netherland one day later I saw snow in April).

In the morning we took the road to the National Park “De Hoge Veluwe” and rode bike in the park for around two hours. It is beautiful and big park. All around you can see trees and then after can see just white sand like a surprise. In addition there is a museum inside the park, name is Kroller Muller. I saw many pictures by Vincent Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet and others. My first weekend was so beautiful. In my second week, I worked with children from around 09.00 until the 12.00 and then sometimes I tried to help behind the bar, and do practise listening to people with Dutch who knows maybe two months or three months later I can speak Dutch with them Smile
